Sustainability Report - Our progress along the value chain

"The Zumtobel Group's sustainability report documents all the steps that have brought us closer to achieving our goals Net-Zero, Circular Economy and Partner of Choice in the past financial year. The report not only provides a retrospective, it also shows where our sustainability journey continues to take us. Together with the specialist departments, that significantly contribute to this report, we create transparency for our stakeholders. It is our ambition to lead the way in sustainability. We fulfil requirements accordingly, but we also seize opportunities to create added value and differentiation for the company as well as our customers."

— Sebastian Gann, Sustainability Director at the Zumtobel Group

Highlights on the road to sustainability

A number of measures were successfully implemented in the past financial year: As part of the Net-Zero goal, the continuous optimisation of energy-intensive processes led to a further reduction of 1,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions in the scopes 1 and 2, resulting in an overall reduction of 58% in direct emissions since 2021. The ‘Reuse’ and ‘High Value Recycling’ cycles were put into practice together with partners SPAR, carla and Voestalpine in a circular pilot project, a decisive step in establishing a circular economy. The Zumtobel Group was recognised as a Partner of Choice by receiving the ISO 45001 standard certification for occupational health and safety for all European sites as well as the third consecutive EcoVadis gold medal.

Focus on the future

With its three sustainability goals - Net-Zero, Circular Economy and Partner of Choice - the Zumtobel Group continues to develop as a sustainable company. Beyond the continuous reduction of its own emissions, collaboration with suppliers and the development of new energy-efficient and digital technologies are key to achieving the Net-Zero goal as well as reducing emissions in all scopes. In the area of Circular Economy, the lighting specialist is focusing, among other things, on expanding its product range with refurbishment kits that allow existing luminaires to be easily modernised on site. As a Partner of Choice, the lighting company continues to work on optimising all aspects of the procurement process: sustainable resources, transparent communication and close cooperation across companies to achieve shared targets.
